Julia Elizabeth “Betty” Secrest The Secrest family lost their leader on Friday, March 11, 2011. Our mother was born on January 18, 1931 in Canton, Ohio, raised in Dresden and Beach City and was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Pauline (King) McFee. Betty retired from Nova Behavioral Health after 15 years, she also worked for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for many years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard to whom she was married 41 years before his death in 1990, her sister, Pauline Bice, her sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jerome Tully and her brothers, James, Jerry and William McFee. She is survived by her children, Jackie Hazel of Massillon, Brian (Debi) Secrest of Canton, Steve (Jody) Secrest of Massillon, Julie (Dennis) Lokken of Massillon and Roger (Jyl) Secrest of Marysville, OH, her brothers, Robert McFee of Massillon and Ronald (Pamela) Smith of Dayton, OH, her sisters-in-law, Maurine McFee and Marge McFee. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Matthew Kratz, Maggie and Molly Secrest, Shelby, Madison and Samantha Secrest, Kylie Kratz, Breanna Lokken, Corey Coyne, Jasmine Coyne, Cassie Lokken, Jacob M. Kratz, Joshua Secrest, Joey Beth Cotter and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. In earlier years, when her children were young, she enjoyed camping and fishing. Good times were spent playing cards with family and traveling with Ronnie and Pam and Jerome and her best friend, Beverly Tully. She always put others first before herself, loved both of her dogs named Jenny and her special feline friend, Midnight. A service to celebrate the life of Betty Secrest will take place on Friday, March 18th at 11:00 A.M at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. David Kimberly officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 at the funeral home and on Friday one hour before the service.
