Joyce R. Knapp

Joyce R. Knapp, age 78 of Massillon, died at her home on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. She was born in Waverly, Ohio on March 16, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Eliza (Herbert) Schilling. In 1950, Joyce graduated from Washington High School. She had worked as a waitress at Freig’s and Kardohely’s Restaurants. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, collecting lighthouses and had volunteered at the Food Bank at St. Joan of Arc. She was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Knapp, her sons, Mark E. Knapp and Douglas A. Knapp, her brother Jacob D. Schilling and her sister, Mary Reichenbach. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (David) Crawford of Akron, her son John B. Knapp of Massillon, her daughter-in-law, Deborah L. Knapp of Massillon, her grandchildren, Sarah Knapp, Anthony Crawford and April Gale, her great grandson, Mark Mayfield, her sister, Joan Goodrich of Hamilton, NY, her sisters-in-law, Sue Schilling and Sharon Bennett and her special niece Deena Mullane. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home at 4:00 P.M with Rev. W. Jay Dolvin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the service. The family suggests memorials be made in her name to the Food Bank at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4940 West Tuscarawas Street, Canton, OH 44708.
