Joyce A. Hoffee

October 22, 1943 — April 10, 2013

Joyce Hoffee, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 69, passed away April 10th at her home in Groveport, OH following a long battle with brain tumors. Joyce was born October 22, 1943 in Canal Fulton the daughter of the late Edwin and Myra Yingling. She grew up on the family farm with her five brothers, Alan, Ramon, Dennis, Joseph and Louis and three sisters, Verla, Dawn and Ruth. She attended Saint Philip and James grade school and graduated from Northwest High School. Joyce went on to attend Canton Business College where she met Robert Hoffee in an elevator who became her husband and best friend. They were married May 2, 1964 and raised five children. Loving and being with family was one of her greatest pleasures. She enjoyed traveling, baking, reading and crafting. She was active in her church, singing with the Church Choir, working with the Altar Guild and baking many sought after pies for fundraisers. After raising her children she finally had the chance to get back into the work force until Bob moved her and she had to start over again and again. In November 2006 she had the first of five surgeries to remove persistent aggressive tumors that also resisted full head radiation, two Gama Knife treatments and three different attempts with chemo. Through all of this she never lost her smile or forgot how to laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert, her children and their spouses: Lynn and John Wehner, Brad and Ruby Hoffee, Tom and Pam Hoffee, Gayle Hoffee and Robert Moak, Ann and Dan Embry, and her grandchildren: John Robert Wehner, Beth Wehner, Rebekah Hoffee, Jacob Hoffee, Garrett Hoffee, Abigayle Hoffee, Isaac Hoffee Moak and Alex Embry. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at St. Phillip and James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton with Fr. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Sunday from 5-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Joyce's honor.
