Jovechan ‘Jove’ Desphy, 49 years young, of Jackson Twp. died unexpectedly Monday at Mercy Medical Center after playing the sport he loved. Jove was born July 19, 1960 in Manila, Philippines. Jove came to the states in 1975 as a teenager. He graduated from Lake Catholic High School, received his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University and an EMBA in Business Management from Kent State University. He has been employed by the Timken Company for 25 years, most recently in Emerging Technologies and Strategic Intelligence. He was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church and a teammate of the Scum Buckets and Scum Shots, part of the Adult Hockey League at Center Ice Sports Complex. He is survived by his adoring wife Carly (Engrish) Desphy with whom he shared 10 years of marriage on November 24, 2009. Jove is survived by his four children: Jennifer Desphy of Akron, Jovekhan (J.P.) Desphy of Canton, Jakhari and Zhanri both of the home; his mother and stepfather Jemma and Wesley Dwyer of Lutz, FL; a sister Yiasmere Desphy of CA; an aunt Meda Paulino of TX, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lori and Dennis Engrish of Elyria. A Recognition of Jove’s Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Friends may call Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. His final resting place will be at Sunset Hills. A fund for Jakhari & Zhanri has been established in their mother’s name at National City Bank.
