Josie Harris

February 12, 1936 — November 7, 2016

Josie Lee Harris, of Massillon Ohio, transitioned peacefully in her sleep from her earthly, to her heavenly vessel on November 7, 2016 at the age of 80, surrounded by her beautiful family in Atlanta, Georgia! She was born in Shady Grove, Alabama in 1936. Months after her birth, she and her family moved to McDowell County, West Virginia where she was raised. She graduated from Excelsior High School, in War West Virginia. After completing school, Josie moved to Massillon, Ohio, where she married her husband, Ralph Harris in 1956. Josie worked at Perry Rubber in Massillon, Ohio for a while and Central State Canning Company in Massillon, Ohio until her retirement. Josie received Christ as her Savior and served as a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, which she attended regularly until she became ill in 2006. In 2012, Josie moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be near her children. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe William Trotter Sr., her mother Thelma Odell Trotter and her ex-husband, Ralph Harris. Josie is survived by her children: Salena (Dale) Johnson, Darlene (Darrell) Johnson, Don (Regenia) Harris, Bruce (Carla) Harris, and Greg (Melissa) Harris. Nine sisters, Sakina Denise Mengle, College Park, Md. Voncille H.( Melvin) Greene, College Park Md. Jessie R. Trotter, Dover, Ohio, Mecca (Doug) Roeser, Oxon Hill, Md. Doris Brown, Washington, D.C., Isalene Jackson, Massillon, Ohio, Bobbie Jean Plenty, Woodbridge, Va., Willie Dale(Samuel)Pannell, Washington, D.C., Eva Powell, Canton, Ohio, three brothers, Joe William (H.LaRue) Trotter Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa., Rahmaan(Winona)Rasheed Sr. Washington, D.C., Otis(Pamela)Trotter, North Canton, Ohio, David Trotter, Parma, Ohio, 14 Grandsons, 3 Grand-daughters, 2 Great-grandsons, 3 Great Grand-daughters, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
