Josephine ‘Mickey’ Wiles, age 77 of Massillon, passed away July 16th at Rose Lane Health Center following a 26 years victory over cancer. The last part of her journey began in February this year and after a determined struggle, her physical body surrendered and heart and soul went to be with her Lord. She will be laid to rest with her late husband James E. Wiles (2004) at the Western Reserve National Cemetery and they will be joined together in Eternity. Mickey was born October 29, 1931 in Toledo to the late Joseph & Irene (Bollinger) Gerard. Mickey was a selfless, gracious lady who enjoyed her service to her family and delighted in the simple things of life. She loved to draw and sketch throughout her life. The last years Mickey enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends. Mickey was an adoring Grandmother, engaging her grandchildren in simple loving gestures and activities: drawing, coloring, talking, baking ‘snicker doodles’ and just being with them. She was a gracious beloved Mother and Mother-in-law, sharing the gift of acceptance and unconditional love for her sons and daughter-in-laws. She will forever remembered by her four sons and daughters in law, Richard Wiles of Massillon and Suzanne Wiles of Canal Fulton, Steven and Lynn Wiles of Massillon, Jeffery (the late Linda) Wiles of Canton and Terry and Linda Wiles of Albright, WV; grandchildren, Benjamin, Thomas, Zachary, Gibby, Hansel, Dane, Johnnie; eight great grandchildren; two surviving sisters, Irene and Carol and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Tuesday at St. Phillips & James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 PM Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Mickey will be remembered as a kind and loving Mother, Grandma, Aunt, Great Aunt and friend. She earned the respect of all her loved ones by her example. She had a great sense of humor and her family and friends are left with many happy memories.
