Joseph V. Brand, Jr.

Joseph V. Brand, Jr., 83 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Affinity Medical Center. Joseph was born on May 18, 1927 in Crystal Springs, Ohio the son of the late Joseph and Theresa Brand. Joe was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a United States veteran, serving in the Navy during WWII. On October 29, 1951 Joseph married Wilma (Moore) H. Brand with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He worked as a manager for Fleming Foods retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church and a lifelong member of Massillon F.O.E. # 190. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosaline Zartman, Helen Wilkerson, Veronica Chaperlo, Catherine, Lucille and Mary Brand and his brother Leo Brand. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Brand; his children and their spouses, Willa (Mike) Hamilton of Las Vegas, NV, Gary (Vicki) Brand of N. Canton, James (Soonok) Brand of Green, Karen (Richard) Randles of Massillon, Michael (Lillie) Brand of Elyria and Thomas (Cheryl) Brand of Massillon; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; his brothers, Ralph Brand, George and Virginia Brand and Edward & Dollie Brand; his sister, Anna Jordan and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10 A.M. at St. Barbara Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Cebula officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 P.M. The F.O.E. #190 will have a service immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home.
