Joseph S. Silvestri, 96, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Joseph was born on January 16, 1920 in Wellsville, Ohio the son of the late Marino and Mary (Revelle) Silvestri. He was a United States Navy veteran and proudly served our country during WWII where he received the Silver Star. Joseph worked for Republic Steel and retired in 1984. He was a member of the F.O.E. #190, VFW Post #3124, Army-Navy Club, and D.A.V. Joseph was a devoted Massillon Tigers fan. He enjoyed gardening and cooking. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Rosalie (Pellegrini), and Gloria (St. Denis); brother, Anthony Silvestri and sisters, Rose Rini, Eleanor Triglia, Helen Frailly and Marian Honeygosky. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sandy (Bill) Byers, Linda (Donald) Pittman, and Joseph (Karen) Silvestri; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Rocco (Joan) Sylvester and David Silvestri. A Celebration of Joseph's life will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.ptboats.org (Battleship Cove: P.O.
