Joseph M. Eaglowski Sr., age 95 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday (August 26, 2008) at the Laurels in Massillon. Joe was born September 12, 1912 in Massillon to the late Casimer & Amelia (Rutkowski) Eaglowski. He was a long time employee of Republic Steel retiring in 1975 and from A.J. Diana & Sons in the mid 80s. He was an example of a dedicated worker, someone who took pride in his landscaping and loved gardening. A husband, a father, a grandfather who loved his family, took great pride in them and led by example. His grandkids were all welcome at his home where they had a special candy cupboard. He enjoyed being part of their lives. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Men’s Club. In addition to his parents, his wife of 69 years, Julia passed in 2004, a granddaughter Kristin Turkal (1965), a grandson Timothy Sweterlitsch (1993), seven sisters, Rose Jezewski, Frances Narvett, Helen Menegay, Victoria Schmidt, Bernice Chura, Betty O’Neil, & Irene Magistro and two brothers Casimer Eaglowski and Louis Eaglowski. He is survived by five children and spouses; Joseph & Barbara Eaglowski Jr., Julia & Mike Turkal, Veronica & Frank Sweterlitsch, Tony & Judy Eaglowski and William & Diane Eaglowski; a sister, Marjorie Hollender; brother, Peter (Nina) Eaglowski all of Massillon; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Garden. Friends may call 6-8 PM Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
