Joseph E. Smith

Joseph E. Smith, 81, of Massillon, passed away on October 3, 2022, following an extended illness.

He was born on March 9, 1941 to the late Arthur Smith and the late Cecila (Bendgen)McNemar in Star City, WV.

Joseph retired from Republic Engineered Steel. He loved sports and was a Massillon Tiger Fan. He also loved to play cards, NASCAR, fishing and hunting. He was an ardent supporter of the NRA. He was dedicated to his family..

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Betty(Lewis) Smith;their children, Dion J. (Shelley)Smith and Tracy A. (Kevin) Easter; five grandchildren, Brandi Bonnell, Sara G. Easter, Katey Ackerman, Cory (Kim) Ackerman, Christopher (Hope) Ackerman; and great-grandchild, Mason Ackerman and Remington Ackerman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, 3:00 pm to 5pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon.

Funeral services will follow at 5:00 pm with Pastor Dale Calloway, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
