Josef Selig

Josef Selig, age 90, of Massillon passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the hospice care center surrounded by his wife, daughters and friend, Rev. Scott Hussing. He was born August 15, 1919 in Bingen/Rhine Germany to the late Katharina and Josef Selig. He is survived by the love of his life, Frieda “Friedchen” Selig with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on October 7th, 2009. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1957. Their marriage was blessed by two daughters, Anita (Larry) Ehmer and Walli (Carl) Feiler all of Massillon. Josef retired from the former Strasburg Provision. He served the Lord faithfully in the New Apostolic Church in the Priestly office until his retirement in 1984. He had a love for singing, fishing, gardening and traveling. He also enjoyed fellowship with his family and church members. He is survived by four grandchildren: Larry J. (Laurrie) Ehmer of Canton, Tracie (Vaughn) Funk of California, Nicole Ripple of Ohio and Christie Nudelman of Colorado. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Angie, Jessie, Matt, Joey, Cassie, Kyle, Caleb and Danielle and one great-great grandson, Jason. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice Palliative Care for the excellent care given at home and the care center. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 850 – 8th Street N.E. in Massillon with Rev. Scott Hussing officiating. Private interment will be on Saturday at Massillon Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home - 1100 Wales Rd.
