John W. Nicewander, 102 of Massillon, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2016. He was born on May 9, 1913 in Massillon, the son of the late John H. and Emma (Weber) Nicewander. He graduated from Washington High School in 1932. He then went on to serve with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Ramona, CA. He retired in 1978 from McLain Grocery and Fleming Foods after 42 years of service. In 1936, he married the former Mable F. Craigo. She preceded him in death in 1995. Along with his parents and wife, five sisters preceded him in death. His gentle spirit will be missed by his son Robert (Joan) Nicewander of Massillon, his daughter, Charlotte (Kenneth) Baldwin of Bonita Springs, FL, six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 am at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Pastor Jean Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 9:30-10:00 am. Preferred memorials for Mr. Nicewander may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 101 Tremont Avenue SE, Massillon, OH 44646.
