John Roth, age 72, of Massillon passed through Heavens Gate, freed from pain on Sunday, August 31, 2008, in the comfort of his home with his beloved wife and loving daughter at his side. He is to be admired for his strength and courage during his extended fight with cancer. John was the son of the late Martin and Gertrude Roth, a graduate of Lincoln High School and moved to Massillon in 1988. He served and received an honorable discharge from the Marines. He was employed by the Timken Company for 42 years, retiring in 1998. John was a member of Canton Lodge #60 F. & A.M. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Freda Meyers, Mary Irene Thomas and Edward Roth. John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Caroline (Rinehart) Roth; a daughter, Robin Roth-Nutter; and a sister, Violet Fewell. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., a service of sharing Memories of John Roth will be led by Rev. Mike McFarren at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service. Many thanks to our terrific neighbors, friends and relatives for all their help, concern and many visits so enjoyed by John.
