John Randall Byard, 69, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023. He was born on December 5, 1953, to the late Albert and Florence (Bogard) Byard in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Randy was a 1972 graduate of Sapulpa High School in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He moved to Massillon where he met and married the love of his life, Cindy (Urban) Byard. They recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on October 5th.
Randy worked most of his life as a glazier and carpenter and in later years as a semi-truck driver. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and gardening. He was dedicated to his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Randy loved sports and was an avid Oklahoma Sooners and Massillon Tigers fan. He spent many years as a band parent and booster officer, helping whenever needed, especially driving the band truck.
NASCAR was also a favorite of his.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Urban) Byard; three children, Christopher (Tiffany) Byard, Matthew (Brianna) Byard, and Tria (Nick) Hummel; seven grandchildren, Shae, Jace, Bryce, Kaylee, Kenzie, Brenna, and Dylan; his brother Steve (Yvonne) Byard, sister Carolyn (Keith) Dudley both of Oklahoma, sister-in-law, Marilyn (Walt) Douglas and many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th at Massillon Church of Christ, 915 State St. NE. A celebration of life will follow at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s memory can be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.
