John “Mike” Barrick, age 84, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. He was born February 23, 1938 in Coshocton Ohio, a son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Veigel) Barrick. John was a 1956 graduate of Roscoe High School. He married Judith Taylor on June 20, 1959 and they had recently celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary.,
He and Judy moved to Canton to raise his family where he has been a resident for the last 64 years. He retired in 1990 from the Timken Company, after 31 ½ years’ service, where he was an electrical apprentice instructor. After his retirement, he went on to work for Stark Truss and Del-Fab as an electrical contractor. He had attended Otterbein United Methodist Church in Navarre, Ohio. John was also in the Military Reserves as a member of the
361st MP Company Canton, Ohio. John was a member of the Masonic Port Washington Lodge #202, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton and Tadmore Shrine in Akron. He served on the security detail for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. His favorite pastime was farming with his great grandson, Chase Snyder.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Barrick, with whom he celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on June 20th; four children, Mark (Cathy) Barrick, Vonda Snyder (Glen), Doug (Amy) Barrick, Beth Hickey (Emmett); six grandchildren, Jamie Snyder, Jenny Miller (Brian), Matt (Chelsea) Barrick, Kristie McGehee (John), Leslie Sagraves (Brian), Sumer Jordan (Shaun); seven great grandchildren, Chase Snyder, Evelyn Barrick, Gus Sagraves (Tobi), Josh Sagraves, Abbi Sagraves, Sophie Jordan, Sawyer Jordan and his brother Bruce Barrick. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Barrick.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home at 11 am with Reverend Matt Garrabrant officiating. Friends may call Monday 6-8 pm and on Tuesday one hour before the service from 10-11am. Interment will be at the East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Stark County Cattleman's Association - 9007 Hill Church Street SE, East Canton, OH 44730.
