John L. Lightfoot

John L. Lightfoot, 88, of Massillon, went home to his Lord on April 4, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family. John was born on December 30, 1933, in Massillon, the son of the late Stewart and Dorothy (McElhaney) Lightfoot. John retired from the Massillon City Sanitation Department after 34 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. John truly loved staying active. He was also a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Lightfoot, and sister, Virginia Lintern. He is survived by his loving wife, Louann (Rose) Lightfoot whom he shared 67 years of marriage; children, John “Rusty” (Kim) Lightfoot, Jr., David (Cheryl) Lightfoot, and Kristine Knotts; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lynda Lightfoot; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday from 5-6 p.m. before the service. A graveside service at Brookfield Cemetery will be held later.
