John "Johnny" M Kolek

John “Johnny” M. Kolek, age 72 of Massillon, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. He was born in Massillon on August 09, 1949 to the late William “Bill” and Rose Marie (Soos) Kolek. He was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School. He married Christine A. Rogers on May 03, 1975 and the spent 47 years together. Johnny served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a Carman for the Norfolk & Western Railroad. He enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows from which he won several trophies. Johnny enjoyed the great outdoors; fishing, canoeing, and spending time with his family and friends. Johnny was a lionhearted person known for his loyal and generous nature. He took great care of his family which included his many pets. He will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother/brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Christine; his son Brian Newsome; his granddaughter Brianna Newsome; his sister Linda (T.J) Daniels and his brother Kirby (Karen) Kolek; his sisters-in law Carole (Mark) Watkins and Valerie (Tom) Donelson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 12-4 p.m. at the Springhill Historic Home.
