John Sweeney II, 82 of Jackson Township, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. John was born on June 30, 1933 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Freda (Brown) Sweeney. John was a United States Army veteran. He graduated from Grove City University with a B.S. degree in Accounting. John worked as an accountant for 30 years and retired in 1996. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, National Association of Accountants, Massillon Jaycees, and the Bantam League Baseball. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Sweeney and his sisters Beatrice Tait and Betty Whaley. He is survived by his wife June (Houston) Sweeney whom he shared 58 years of marriage; sons John (Jo Marie) Sweeney III and Jeff (Annette) Sweeney; grandchildren Amber and Heather; step grandchildren Michael Nicoletti and Jennifer Tenney.
