John J. Shafrath

John J. Shafrath, age 75, of New Philadelphia passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Union Hospital. He was born in Massillon on March 12, 1932 to Austin & Leona (Sheetz) Shafrath. John retired from Stark Co. Engineers maintenance department. He loved to eat out at Sammy’s Restaurant and the Coffee Cup in Massillon. John was a dog lover, ever since his days growing up on his parent's farm. He enjoyed coffee and bologna sandwiches and getting together for special events with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Bernice Halter, Mary Jane Shafrath, Zita Maloney; 2 brothers, Charles Shafrath & Carl Jude. Survived by: Brother Gerald Shafrath of Massillon Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & a few great-great nieces & great-great nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Family and friends may call from 10 – 11 A.M. on Saturday. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
