John J. French, 64, of Canton, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Monday, October 14, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born in Canton on January 8, 1949 to the late Harry George & Eleanora (Mackey) French. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He was also stationed with the 350th Evac Hospital in Canton. He retired from Hercules Engines after 25 years of service. He was a man of service volunteering at the V.A. Medical Clinic in Canton and where ever he may be needed. John was a member of the American Legion, Post 221, Amvets, Post 6 , D.A.V., and was a member of the Canton Jaycees. He was dedicated to his family and others. He is survived by his wife, Billie "BJ" (McGill) French, a son, John French, Jr., two daughters, Linda and Tonya French, God-daughter, Elizabeth Hannah Grace Coffey, one grandchild, a brother, Donald French, four nephews, Don, Jr, , Tim, Richard and John, two nieces Tammy, and Mary. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen M. Wallace, brother, George French and a sister-law Sue French. Friends may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 6:00PM-8:00PM and on Tuesday from 9:30AM-10:30AM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 10:30AM in the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
