John Ernest Walsh, Jr. “Your child is your rainbow. And your grandchildren are your pot of gold.” John Ernest Walsh, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on March 29, 2022. He was born to parents, Evelyn Stoneman and John Walsh, Sr. on October 04, 1946, in Canton, Ohio. Upon graduation from Hoover High School, John married Nancy Lee Kauffman. Six days later, he left his wife to serve in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fifth Field Medical Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, 1966-1968, serving as a lab technician. When he returned home, he began his life-long work career as an appraiser, working for Walsh and Assoc Appraisal Co., Cleminshaw Appraisal, and ODOT (Ohio Dept of Transportation). He continued working for the Sheriff’s Dept. of Stark County, as the chief appraiser, until his death. John was an avid Cleveland sports fan, cheering for each season and team. A long-standing member of the Massillon Eagles 190, he had the distinction of having held all executive seats. His other memberships included the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling with friends and family. John was a family man, a good uncle and brother. Childhood sweethearts, John and Nancy, celebrated 55 years of marriage. They have a son, Richard John (Nellie), who was truly the rainbow in John’s life. He was proud of the man, husband, and father his son had become. His greatest treasure, without a doubt, was his grandchildren. Poppie’s pot of gold includes Madison, Jared, Weston and Roman. They brought him joy and purpose; his support and love for them was a beautiful thing to witness. John was preceded in death by sister, Marge Mainzer and brother, Patrick Walsh. His surviving siblings are Cathie (Jack) Terrigan, Michael (Jeannie) Walsh, James Walsh, and Mary (Richard) Gambill. In leu of flowers, for those wishing to honor John’s memory, the family suggests a donation to Boys and Girls Club of Massillon Oh. Arrangements are being handled by Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, Oh. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Massillon Eagles 190, 303 Weirich Blvd NW, Massillon, Oh. on Friday, April 8. The family will receive visitors from 5 pm to 6 pm, with the memorial service beginning at 6 pm
