John Edwin Forgan, 90, of Massillon, passed away on February 25, 2023, following a brief illness.
He was born on October 30, 1932 to the late Edwin and Faye (Rhodes) Forgan in Beaver Falls, PA.
John was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1950. He was a veteran of The United States Navy and retired from The City of Massillon Fire Department in 1985.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Barbara's Catholic Church. John was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Gloria (Ricker) Forgan; their children, Kathi Chovan, Debby (Bruce) Lotter, Rick (Robin) Forgan, Laurie Meyer, and Tom Forgan; grandchildren, Marisa Chovan, Kristi (Todd) Buoni, Kalli (Doug) Schillinger, Jordan (Maggie) Cannelis, Kara (T.J.) Moe, Jessi Forgan, Lindsay (Brad) Kostewicz, Carlene Meyer, Sarah Meyer, Tommy Forgan, and Hannah Forgan; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Forgan, Dale Forgan and Ruth Reda.
Visitation will be held on March 8, 2023 from 6pm-8pm at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon. The Stark County Fire Fighters will hold a Final Bell Ceremony at 8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 9, 2023, 10:30 am at St. Barbara's Catholic Church, by The Rev. Cannon Matthew Mankowski. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
