John B. "Jack" Kaufmann

July 12, 1945 — January 25, 2015

John B. "Jack" Kaufmann, 69, passed away, Sunday, January 25, 2015, unexpectedly at home. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 12, 1945, the son of the late John and Olive (Plappert) Kaufmann. Jack received his undergraduate degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and also earned two Master degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He took an early retirement from the Pittsburgh Public School System and went to work in the cemetery business in several different areas before retiring in 2007 and moving to Canton, Ohio. He was a member of Reedurban Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and chairman of the outreach team. Jack was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Robinson) Kaufmann, whom he married on April 23, 1988; his children, Heather J. Costa of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert C. (Chris) Smith of Raleigh, NC, and Diane C. (Darbey) Schultz of Canal Fulton, OH; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Caroline. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Reedurban Presbyterian Church from 2:00PM- 4:00PM with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 4:00PM, Rev. Lynn Bozich Shetzer, celebrant. Inurnment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, PA at a later date. Messages of condolence and support may be sent to the family at www.arnoldlynch.com.
