Joanne Mildred (Johnson) White of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 6th, 2017 at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, Ohio. She was born in Massillon on November 9th, 1940 to the late Johnnie Johnson and Lillian (Joiner) Johnson. She graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1958. Over the years she worked at Perry Rubber, Harry London, and the Massillon School Systems. A lifelong member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Joanne was an active member of the church’s “The Keep Right On Moving Club”. She flourished as a consummate mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be remembered for her tenderness, heartfelt advice and positive energy. Her creative spirit naturally supported her love of cooking and entertaining guests at home. She also loved to travel - whether to the Lancaster Family reunions all across the country or various places in Europe with her husband. She loved the Lord, the Church, and her family. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Leroy V. White, and her sister, Shirley (Johnson) Crenshaw. She is survived by two sons, Eric White and Michael T. White of Massillon, OH and daughter, Mignon (Tony) Brooks of Blacklick, OH, and step-son, Christopher Cooper of Germany. Four brothers; Vernon (Gerri) Johnson, of Massillon, John Henry (Sharon) Johnson, of Canton, Tyrone Johnson and Billy Johnson both of North Canton; and, sister, Evelyn Brown of Canton. Six grandchildren; Corey Norris, Michael A. White, Brendan White, Cheyenne Brooks, Chenice Cooper, and Christoper Vernon Cooper. Sister-in-laws Donna Stephens and Peggy (Herman) Honaker. A favorite aunt, Eulette Arrington, and, a great many dearly loved family members and close friends. The family will receive friends for calling hours at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday, November 12 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Monday 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at St. James. A Home Going Celebration will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 12 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church in Massillon. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
