JoAn Suhre Ferguson passed peacefully Saturday evening, January 13, 2018. Born in Brookville, Indiana on November 22,1930, she was the daughter of William and Pauline Suhre and the widow of William “Bill” Ferguson who predeceased her on Oct. 30, 2011. Surviving are three children: Anne Ferguson Wilson of Cleveland Heights, Paul (Rose) Ferguson of Lakewood, and Mark Ferguson of Mount Prospect, Il. Grandchildren include Rachel and Clara Wilson, Kelsey and Tyler Ferguson, and John Ferguson. The artistic and musical talents of her children and grandchildren, and the joyful spirit of her late husband, gave her much happiness. She was predeceased by her brother Frederick Suhre and his wife Louise of Brookville, Indiana in 2013. A graduate of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH, she met her future husband while attending Ball State University in Muncie, IN. JoAn and Bill were fortunate and happy to have had fifty-eight years of marriage. As a member of the former Church of the Savior in Canton, JoAn visited the homebound as a “Friendly Visitor,” and was a member of the Eve Mary Circle and the Massillon Women’s Club. With her husband she helped to deliver “Meals on Wheels.” An avid golfer, JoAn won the club championship at Shady Hollow in 1986. Her cremains and that of her late husband will be interred together at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana, her birthplace. All friends of JoAn are invited to attend a simple gathering on Saturday, January 20 at 2pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Memorial contributions will be gratefully accepted by the Salvation Army, Massillon, OH.
