Jimmy Lamar Jones

Jimmy Lamar Jones of Canton, Ohio, age 69 passed away on Saturday, April 08, 2017. He was born on July 13, 1947 in Rome, Georgia to Mildred Price Wyley and the late Ray Jones. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Tow Motor Operator many years at Sterilite Corporation, Massillon, OH. Jimmy was born and raised in Rome, Georgia and decided to move to the state of Ohio approximately 40 years ago where he settled, worked, married and eventually retired. He was an accomplished pool player and bowler and was known to shoot a mean game of pool. Jimmy played in various pool leagues and tournaments for which he won many trophies, had a passion for old cars and riding motorcycles. However, his greatest joy and accomplishments were his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Mildred Gray, Amber Jones, Gerald Gray Sr., Herbert Gray of Ohio, Jimmy Jones Jr., Ray Jones, Ricky Jones and Shimika Jones of Rome, GA; his loving mother Mildred Price Wyley, Rome, GA; his sisters Angela Dickerson, Alecia Robinson, Becky Robinson, Atlanta, GA and Cathy Robinson, Rome GA; his brothers Johnny Thompkins and Ulysses Price Robinson, Rome, GA; his many grandchildren and great-granddaughter Ramona, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Ray Jones; beloved soul mate Verna Jones; his daughter Diona Gray; his sister, Beverly Jones and brother William Thompkins. He will forever be remembered as being a devoted, kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
