Jessica Corebell Burge was born March 14, 1981, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, Oh. She was the third child born to Cynthia Kay Thompson and Charles D. Burge. Jessica enjoyed playing sports including basketball as a freshman at Fairless High School. Jessica graduated from Fairless High School in Navarre, Oh in the year 2000 and went on to obtain her STNA license which helped her begin her passion in life of caring for others. Her STNA license paved the way for her to dedicate 20 years of service towards looking after those in need through Home Healthcare and Nursing Home facilities including working at Altercare in Navarre, Sprenger Health Care Roselane Nursing and Rehabilitation in Massillon, Oh and Brewster Parke in Brewster, Oh…just to name a few. It was inherent for Jessica to genuinely express empathy and love for people. She truly loved taking care of others with the same love she exuded towards her own family. No matter what the situation, she was always there ready to help. Her family was everything to her and the current pandemic did not stop her from being there for and spending time with her family and loved ones….no matter if it cost her her life… She was a Sunshine Warrior. Even during the most trying time in her life when she required a double lung transplant, she still extended her care and services to others. Jessica was a resilient FIGHTER! And God had His hand and a plan over her life. Jessica defeated the odds and was quickly approved to be placed on the donor list for lungs. Soon after, when she began to deplete her oxygen supply, a donor was identified, and she successfully made it through the surgery. She further fought and her body accepted the organs after which Jessica went hard on living life to the fullest and being there for her family. She truly was living her best life. Jessica lived in Massillon all her life but enjoyed some of the simple pleasures of life such as traveling, taking walks through the Wilderness Center, and relaxing with family at Baylor Beach. It brought her joy to plan the family reunions and other gatherings that brought her family & friends together in love and support. Besides caring for others, Family was her life and her very purpose of being. Bringing two families together who were total opposites…was one of her greatest achievements. Loving her children was one thing, but when those grandbabies arrived, her life was ‘kicked’ up several notches to a different level and she was loving and basking in every moment of it! She always put a smile on people’s faces. She never let anything stop her from doing what she wanted to do. Jessica had realized that family wasn’t only defined by last names or blood; but also defined by commitment and by love. That it meant showing up when they need it most, having each other’s backs, and even choosing to love each other even on those days when we struggle to “like” one another. She knew it meant never giving up on each other! To know Jessica, was to know ALL these things and understand her motives in life. She was a very loving daughter, sister, mother, companion, aunt, grandmother, cousin and friend. Jessica was called to eternal rest on Monday, May 3rd, 2021, after a brief illness. She has now been transformed into the perfect being God wants her to be. Jessica is preceded in death by her father, Charles D. Burge ; brother, Kevin Allen Thompson; grandmother, Laura M. Thompson; grandfather, William Thompson; and aunt, Crystal Thompson. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Jessica leaves to cherish her memory her loving companion of 13+ years, Christopher O. Childs Sr. ; eldest son, Korie Allen Childs Sr. ; son, Andre Depree Jones Jr. ; daughter, Brooklyn Paige Jones ; mother, Cynthia Kay Thompson of West Virgina ; step-mother, Robin Burge of Cadiz, OH; sister, Lisa Kay Bratton of Cookeville, TN ; brother, Charles Dorsey Burge of Brewster, Oh ; grandchildren, Liana Grace and Korie Jr. ; nieces, Sierra Nichole Ferrell, Brook Candance Ferrell, Augusta Renee Dibbs, Raven Burge ; great-niece, Paislee Hope Hall; great-nephew, Korbin Dean Hall; and a host of beloved extended family, friends and loved ones.
