Jerry L. Dottavio, 82, of Massillon passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 25, 1940, in Massillon, to the late Joseph and Mildred (Hoffman) Dottavio.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He also worked and retired from Heinz after 18 years of service.
Jerry enjoyed the simple things in life like maintaining his yard and gardening. But his greatest passion was spending time with his beloved grand-dog Venus and great-grandson Brantley who was his pride and joy.
He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda (Whipkey) Dottavio; loving daughter Angel Dottavio; faithful grand-dog Venus; great-grandson and the light of his life, Brantley; sister Janice Nagle; special in-laws Clifford “Coke” and Betty Whipey, Donna Whipkey and Margaret “Peg” Dottavio; as well as his special neighbors who were always there to lend a helping hand and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to give special thanks to the nurses and aids at Traditions Health-Akron Branch for their care and compassion of Jerry over the last few months.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" Dottavio.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 9th at 11am at Brookfield Cemetery, 11400 Shaefer St NW, Massillon, OH 44647 with Pastor Rick Kelly officiating and where military rites will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
