Jerry A. Bellinski

Jerome A. “Jerry” Bellinski, 77 of Massillon, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Amherst Meadows. He was born on October 28, 1931 in Canton and was the son of the late Harry and Mary A. (Ungashick) Bellinski. He was a lifelong area resident. Jerry was a graduate of Central Catholic High School where he excelled in sports. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Jerry was a member of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2370 and the Canton Ex- Newsboy Association. He was inducted into the Greater Canton Oldtimers Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997. He worked for GMAC and retired from the former United Bank where he was Vice President of consumer lending. Jerry loved sports and one of his greatest joys was being a spectator at sports played by his son Jeff. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Ronald Bellinski. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gladys H. (Wirtzberger) Bellinski, whom he married on Valentine’s Day in 1975, his children, Cheryl (Steve) Brooks of Jacksonville, FL, Jeff (Rita) Bellinski of Columbus, OH and Lynn (Randy) McClure of Jackson Twp., his stepson, Scot (Belinda) Furney of Fairfield, OH and his grandchildren, Jenna & Dan Bellinski, Jacob & Zachary McClure and Cari & Leah Furney. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday at the Paquelet Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Robert Kaylor officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Amherst Meadows and Harbor Light Hospice for their loving care of Jerry.
