Jean Paulson

September 20, 1925 — April 15, 2007

Jean Paulson, mother, artist and former teacher, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Affinity Hospital Doctors Campus following an illness with cancer. Jean was born September 20, 1925 in Chicago to the late Harold & Florence (Nicely) Lindstrom. She met Paul Pep Paulson while they attended the University of Chicago, and they married in 1947. They lived in Massillon in the late 1950s, and then lived in Arizona and California, returning to Massillon in 1963. Jean taught elementary school in the Massillon and Jackson school systems. Her husband, Judge Paul E. Pep Paulson passed away in 2005. In retirement, Jean spent several years studying art at Akron University and paintings have been displayed in several juried art shows including the Massillon Museum. She traveled extensively, was talented musically, was an avid gardener, and had a special fondness for cats. Jean and Pep hosted numerous exchange students in their homes in the 1970s and 198s through the Rotary Youth Exchange program, during and after their children, Charles and Kristin, were exchange students. Jean is survived by her children: Charles, who is a partner in the accounting firm, Hausser & Taylor LLC, in Cleveland, OH; and Kristin, who is president for South Asia Pacific of United Technologies Corporation, and resides in Singapore A Celebration of Jean's life will be 10:30 AM Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
