Jay O. Crowl, age 89 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was born on October 22, 1925 in Canton and was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Wilson) Crowl. He was a graduate of McKinley High School and then went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was proud of his military service. He retired from Diebold, Inc. in 1984 where he held positions as Secretary-Treasurer and Union President of Boilermakers Local 1191. Jay was an avid photographer, who enjoyed taking pictures for his friends and for the McKinley High School Boosters. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Crowl, his son, Randall Ralph Crowl his sister, Erma Misch and niece Susan Wells. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Crowl and her partner Jenny Kohler and his two granddaughters, Miranda Crowl and Ashley Kohler. Also surviving are his special friend, Cheryl Scott, his niece, Mary (Guy) Lindsey and his brother-in-law, Donald Misch. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jay Crowl will take place on Friday at 3:30 P.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3:30 P.M. For those who wish, memorials may be made in Mr. Crowl's name to Aultman College, 2600-6th St. SW, Canton, OH 44710.
