Janice L. Stollar

Janice L. “Jan” Stollar, age 65 of Massillon, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at her home. She was born on January 23, 1942 in Omar, WV and was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Duncan) Thern. She was a lifelong area resident. She enjoyed 32 years of teaching Latin and substitute teaching in public and parochial schools in Stark, Summit and Cuyahoga counties. Jan was a member of the Massillon Women’s Club for over 40 years and served as their president in 1977. She was also active at Spring Hill prior to her yearlong battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William Stollar of the home; her daughters, Julie (Robert) Higgins of Geneva, OH and Jenny Stollar of Durango, CO; her sisters, Sandra (John) Herbert of Navarre, OH, Linda (Ralph) Smith of Harper’s Ferry, WV and Connie (John) Niccolls of Leesburg, VA; brother John (Debbie) Thern of Berlin OH; 2 neices and 1 nephew; uncle Emmitt Reeves of WV; sister and brother in law Jean (William) Beller of Dover, OH; and several cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Stirbens officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
