Janice L. Stitz, 58 of Perry Twp., passed away at her residence on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 following a courageous battle against cancer. She was born on January 2, 1951 in Washington, PA the daughter of Willis and Marjorie (Day) Haughton. Janice was a 1969 graduate of Perry High School. She taught math at Edison Jr. High School for 6 years and was an adjunct professor of mathematics at Kent State University, Stark Campus for 25 years. She obtained her B.S. at Mount Union College in 1973 and her Masters’ in Education at Kent State University in 1976. Janice was a member of Jackson Friends Church. She was a very loving and caring wife and mother and was very devoted to her family. She had a strong faith in God and is now enjoying her heavenly reward. She is survived by her husband Dale Stitz to whom she was married for 31 years; her children, Amy (Jonathan) Doerrer of Fairlawn, Jeff Stitz of Washington, D.C. and Mark Stitz of San Angelo, TX; her parents, Willis and Marjorie Haughton of Perry Twp. and her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Mike) Swanson of N. Canton. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00 A.M. at Jackson Friends Church located at Portage Road and Arlington Road. Her pastor Rev. Dave Tebbs will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Friday (TODAY) from 6-8 P.M.
