Janice L. Phelps, age 82 of Canal Fulton, joined her husband in eternal rest on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at her home with her family at her side. She was born in Clarksville, Indiana on November 10, 1934 and was the daughter of Dempsie and Golda (Keibler) Stone. She graduated from Jeffersonville High School and then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree at Indiana Central College as well as her Master’s degree from Indiana University. She then taught third grade at Edgewood Elementary School for several years. On December 30, 1961, Janice married the love of her life, Gene Phelps. Together, they raised five children. She was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Janice loved music and was active in many choirs in both college and her churches. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. “Gene” Phelps, her sisters Millicent and Alice, and her brothers, Howard, Paul, Sam and Norvin. She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Danielle) Phelps, Kevin Phelps and Keith Phelps, her daughters, Angela Gonzales and Wendy (Francis) Crossman, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, her brother Bob (Doris) Stone and her sister Bonnie Myers. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Monday (TONIGHT) from 6-8 pm. Services will take place at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Tuesday at 11:00 am with visitation from 10-11 am. She will be buried beside her husband Gene at Miller Cemetery in Borden, Indiana on Wednesday.
