Janice A. Manson, 88, passed away on January 15, 2022 following an extended illness. She was born in Brewster on March 10, 1933 to the late Forest Blaine and Mildred (Johns) Leighley. Jan was a retired cook for the Massillon City Schools. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Eagles, Aire 190, Massillon and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Massillon. Jan and her late husband loved traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico and spending their winter months in Punta Gorda, Florida. They also spent much of their time attending grandsons and great grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. Jan played clarinet in the Massillon Tiger Swing Band and Jan and Ken very seldom missed Massillon Tiger Football games. Both of them were very active in their church. She is survived by her children, Holly (John) Dean and Rick (Young) Manson; grandchildren, Clint (Judy) Dean, Brent (Lauren) Dean, Dave (Sarah) Manson, Roger (Janice) Manson and Scott (Casey) Manson; greatgrandchildren, Conner, Tyler, Logan, Kendall, Alex, Nathan, Wesley, Dylan and Miles; and brothers, Terrry (Gaye) Leighley and Bob (Jan) Leighley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Kenneth E. Manson in 2019. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Senior Living, Massillon and the staff of Elara Hospice, for their compassion and care that was given to Jan the past couple of years.
