Janet M. Weinbrecht

Born May 18, 1936, she was the third of four children born to Raymond and Ethel Mae Dagon in Mt Sterling, Ohio. She will be joining her late husband Harold (Bus) Weinbrecht in the great beyond. She was pre-deceased by both her sister Helen Ault and her brother Paul Dagon and is survived by sister Nancy Kershaw. She is also survived by her three sons, Joseph (Brenda) Seely, Steven (Ann) Seely and Daniel Seely, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mom had a full life. Starting work in the Sixties as a part-time dishwasher where she eventually worked her way up to Comptroller and Assistant to the President of the 85+ unit strong national nursing home chain. Also in her professional life, she managed a large, multi-story office building in downtown Columbus, then when she married Bus she started and ran another successful supply business with him in the floral industry.

But where she really excelled was in her roles as a friend and mother. Remember Big Time Wrestling? The 60’s and 70’s? She was a great wrestler, launching herself from the couch with a bounce onto her pile of sons by pretending to be Bobo Brazil or The Junkyard Dog in the middle of her living room. She let us go anywhere in Grove City, Ohio our bikes would take us, looked the other way when she knew we were playing ball tag on the roof and once, instead of yelling, she gave one son an unexpected boost when he was trying to sneak back into the bedroom window at two in the morning. But more than that, when she suddenly was faced with single parenting for three boys during THOSE years, those difficult teenage years when even two parents don’t seem to be enough, she stepped up to the plate, got a second and third job and made sure we wanted for nothing. Thanks Mom.

Before dementia, she was a vibrant, social woman who was never was afraid of anything. Not starting a new business, not picking up and moving to a new state every few years, not of the health problems that plagued her most of her life, not even wrestling on the living room floor with three sons that each outweighed her. All that knew her loved her. These last few years have been harder on those around her, please understand that the dementia made it hard for her to remember names and perhaps a little crabby. But she never forgot smiles, gifting hers back one to anyone smiling at her.

She is at peace now, walking straight and upright again with joints that don’t ache anymore and thinking with a clear mind…perhaps looking for a worthy wrestling opponent.
