Janet M. Watson, 81, formerly of Canal Fulton, passed away on January 15, 2024, at Country Club Nursing Home in Dover. She was born in Dover, Ohio, on May 29, 1942, and raised by the late Nicholas and Frances Notch.
She was a proud graduate of Northwest High School. Janet was a lifelong member of Canal Fulton United Methodist Church and for many years was very dedicated to helping with Sunday school and other church activities.
After raising her family with her former husband, Frank Mitchell, Janet entered the workforce. Her love for children landed her a job in childcare for many years, as well as the Northwest School District.
After the passing of her husband Frank, Janet found love again with Ken Watson. Their union brought joy and companionship into their lives, and they made countless memories together, sharing travelling adventures and camping.
Above all, Janet had unwavering love and support for her family. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of her life.
Janet leaves behind her husband, Ken Watson; her daughters Cheri (Brian) Hinkle and Chanin (Larry) McElroy; siblings Joseph (Jane) Notch, Larry (Mary) Notch, Shirley Gallagher, Ruthann DeRush; sisters-in-law Carol Notch and Bernice Notch; grandchildren, Kristina Mitchell, Isaac Beatty, Bailey McElroy; step-grandchildren Brian Hinkle, Jr., Beau Hinkle and Jenna Hinkle; great-grandchildren, Lily McCardle, Jacob Mitchell, Savana Kerns, Belle Kerns, Jacob Beatty; and step-great-grandsons, Beau Miller and Landon Sousa.
In addition to her parents and her husband Frank of 45 years, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Nicholas Notch, Alvin Notch, Allen Notch, and John Francis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19th from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 408 9th St SW Suite 3400, Canton, OH 44707.
