Janet Kennedy

Janetlee “Janet” Kennedy, a resident of Massillon, age 85 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. She was born January 6, 1934 in Massillon to the late Ernest and Mary (Wilhelm) Jacobs. She married Arden C. Kennedy on October 20, 1951 and they shared almost 41 years together. Janet retired after 25 years at J.C. Penney. For many years she was active with the Lincoln Ladies in Massillon and brought joy and laughter with her singing. Janet was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending many of their events. She was known for her sense of humor and was a kid at heart. Janet also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and choreography. The highlights of her year were putting together the Jacobs family reunion, Thanksgiving, Christmas and her famous Easter Egg hunts. She will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving mom, grandma, Gigi, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Peggy (Rick) Gallegos, Ken (Sara) Kennedy, Catherine Kunkel, Pamela (Robert) Arney; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Dennis and Marie Justice; brother Wayne “Sonny” Jacobs and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Arden Kennedy of 41 years, her parents; 7 brothers, 5 sisters and twin granddaughters. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts that survive. Those who knew her will miss her great sense of humor and laughter and her beautiful smile. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 6-8pm and 1 hour prior to the service. Interment at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
