Mrs. Jane Mary (O’Hagan) Erickson, a damn Yankee from Connecticut, born on February 2, 1949, in Sommerville, Connecticut, to the late Lenore (Dzwonksus) O’Hagan and John O'Hagan, passed away at age 69 on June 7, 2018, in Canal Fulton, Ohio. Jane is survived by father, John O’Hagan, of Saint Simon Island, GA, sister, Mary Moran (Nick) of Orlando, FL, sons, Clayton Erickson of Akron and Dr. John Erickson (Lauren) of Cincinnati, granddaughter, Bellamy Jane Erickson, niece, Katherine Jane Moran of Whistler, Canada and many friends and family. Her greatest joy derived from being a mother and grandmother. Jane grew up on a family farm in Somersville, CT and moved to Massillon after college where she grew to love both the Massillon Tiger football team and other weekend city events. She was one of the first females to graduate with a B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She enjoyed spending time with her family, ocean cruising with Diane Trembley, Star Trek activities with her son John and Nick Riggs, watching deer and raccoons in her backyard and having Sunday dinner with her son Clayton. She was an active member of the community, and her many activities included: Cub Scout Pack 916 Leader and board member, Washington High School Tigersharks swim team and choir booster, founding member of Community Hospice, YMCA Gator swim team board member, MAC Swim Club, room mother at Whittier Elementary School, Longfellow Junior High School PTO, supporter of the Washington High School Academic Challenge, member of Massillon Women’s Club Evening Wine & Cheese Section, long time member of the Massillon Museum and a two-year fund- raising chair benefitting Massillon Community Hospital. Jane was also a long-time active member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church where she served on the accounting committee. Jane founded Erickson Interiors and had an incredible eye for contemporary lines of design, possessed a great appreciation for modern art and was an accomplished chef. She described herlife as a great adventure, and she loved everyone she encountered whole-heartedly. She will be supremely missed, but she will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her. Those who wish may donate in Jane's name to Community Hospice and American Red Cross. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Reverend George Baum, Rector, on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at St Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 226 3rd St SE, Massillon, Ohio, 44646.
