Jane Louise Swensgard, age 68, passed away peacefully at home Saturday February 16th, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Massillon on October 6th, 1944 to Leo and Josephine (Moore) Simon. She was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. She married Don E. Swensgard on October 9th, 1965. Jane worked in the home as a housewife raising her four children. She was an avid gardener and loved being outside tending to her flowerbeds and yard. She was a long-time member of the Massillon Women's Club and a supporter and participant in the Jackson Township Relay for Life. She will be remembered for her many warm and loving relationships. Jane is survived by her husband, her sister Carol (Tom) Meldrum, her four children, Jill (Rod) McCauley, Brett (Adrienne) Swensgard, Kelly (Subrata) Debnath, and Lynn (Jim) Ryan, and her eight grandchildren, Avery and Zachary McCauley, Morgan and Collin Swensgard, Abigail and Jack Ryan, and Lauren and Arrun Debnath, and several nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law Bill and Jean Swensgard of Ft. Benton, Montana, her sister Shirley (Clarence) Shanower, and her nephew Bruce Shanower. Calling hours will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 20th from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 21st at 11am at Christ Lutheran Church, 3545 Amherst Ave. NW.
