James W. Williams

James W. Williams, 88, passed away on March 31, 2017, following an extended illness. He was born in West Virginia on November 8, 1928 to the late James W. and Fannie (Moore) Williams, Sr. James was a veteran of The United States Army and retired from Republic Steel after 42 years. He was dedicated to his family and loved to travel and go on cruises, especially memorable were his trips to Greece and Israel. He is survived by his children, Jackie Moore, Vicki Williams, Geraldine Williams, Michael (Barbara) Williams and John W. (Sharon) Williams all of Columbus; step-children, Andrea and Donald Brown, special-step-grandson, Demetrius Brown and nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Stewart, Mary R. Ryder, and Bernice (Leon) Goshine; brothers, Rufus (Geraldine) Williams and Charles (Deborah ) Williams; and the mother of his children, his first wife, Emma Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Corliss Williams; son, Craig Williams; brother, Sam Williams; and sisters, Dorothy Austin and Luella Sankey. Friends may call at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Massillon on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 11:00am-12:00pm with a Home Going Celebration to be held at 12:00pm, Pastor Wesley Moore, officiating.
