James W. Snyder, 67, of Carrollton, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021. Jim was born on May 11, 1954, in Canton, Ohio the son of the late Roy E. and Beverly F. (Kirk) Snyder. He was a proud United States Marines veteran and served our country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a semi-truck owner/operator throughout his life. He also served as a police officer and senior investigator at various police departments including Massillon, Jackson, and Carrollton. He retired from Malavite Excavating, where he made many friends. Jim’s hobbies included fishing and practicing his shooting skills. He was a skilled marksman. He loved horses and participated in team penning. He would be proud to be called a cowboy. Jim was also a member of Carrollton Presbyterian Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Snyder, and brother, Ted Snyder. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta “Robbi” (Renner), whom he shared 34 years of marriage; son, Jason Snyder; daughter, Lisa Marie (Jason) Ritenour; grandchildren, Sierra, and Emily; sisters and brother, Carol Ann Snyder, Jean Marie Snyder, Sandra (Don) Ady, Rebecca Snyder, and Richard (Mary) Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m. before the service.
