James 'Twitch' A. Smith

James A. "Twitch" Smith, 80 of Massillon, died on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on October 25, 1931 in Massillon and was the son of the late John S. and Pearl A. (Smedley) Smith. He was a lifelong area resident. Jim was a graduate of Washington High School and then enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He retired from Perry Local Schools where he was the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Massillon Lion's Club, where he was an end man in the Annual Show and was in charge of building the set for the show for many years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Smith. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret A. (DeWalt) Smith, his children and their spouses, Michael A. (Susan) Smith, Rebecca S. Smith and Mark J. (Leslie) Smith. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no service or calling hours. The family suggests, memorials be made in his name to either St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Lion's Lincoln Theater.
