James S. Competty

James S. Competty age 85 of Massillon passed away Tuesday March 21, 2006 at the Massillon Community Hospital. Jim was born February 15, 1921 in Dennison, OH to the late James & Carmella (Mastellarini) Competti. He was raised in Dennison educated at the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and moved to Massillon in 1944. Jim was employed by Republic Steel for 42 years retiring in 1983 as Superintendent of the Electrical & Mechanical Departments. In addition he owned and operated the former City Radio & TV for 34 years. After retirement Jim and Eileen spent 16 winters in Florida. As a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, he had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Therese. Jim was a member of the K of C #554: at Republic Steel he belonged to the Corporate Electrical Committee, Speakers Bureau and Foreman’s Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Delia Dalpiaz, and a brother William Competti. He is survived by: Eileen (Crites) Competty, his wife, with whom he would have shared 62 years of marriage on September 16th Children: Jane (Denny) Jacko of Massillon, Tom (Barb) Competty of Canton Joan (Tim) McCune of Massillon, Patty (Steve Hayden) Competty of Canton Siblings: Margaret Nazionale of CA, Irma Biancamano of Dover, Norma Gurklis of Columbus, and Tom Competti of Louisville Grandchildren: DJ, Christine & Jennnifer Jacko, Rick (Cathie) Boron, Renee (Greg) Dufour, Matt (Carrie) Competty, Lauren Competty & Brad Competty Great Grandchildren: Emerson & Taylor Boron, and Gracen Competty A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon. Entombment will be at the Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 5-8 PM. and Saturday from 9 AM until 9:45 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
