James R. Bryce, 93, passed away on March 25, 2019, following a brief illness. He was born on June 8, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. James Bryce. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retiree of Republic Steel. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in the home he built with his wife over 60 years ago. In his retirement years he made beautiful, handcrafted wood furniture. He enjoyed making a variety of things including chests, swings, and clocks for family and friends. He also had a craft business with his wife, Wilda, named Hootin Hollow. James was still active in his woodshop even at 93 years of age. Without fail, he left a trail of saw dust wherever he went and was always found in a paint stained flannel shirt (even at special events). His quick wit and ornery grin will be missed by so many. He is survived by his children, Brenda (John) Kenneweg, Michael (Donna) Bryce and Robert (Loretta) Bryce; three grandchildren, Ashley Black, Jessica McCune and Kristen Bauer; and six great-grandchildren, Isabel, Jackson, Zoe, Rickey, Hillary and Allison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda L. Bryce; grandchild, Christopher Bryce; two sisters, Caroline and Janet, and two brothers, Jack and Jerry. A very special thank you to Kathleen and Tina of Mercy Hospice. We are grateful beyond words. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, 2019 at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Newman Creek Cemetery.
