James "Pops" C. Benson

James "Pops" C. Benson, age 89 of Massillon went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 04, 2022. He was born on September 20, 1933 to the late Raymond and Thelma (Morse) Benson in Akron, Ohio. He was a graduate of Norton High School.

Pops worked as a Draftsman Engineer for Babcock & Wilcox for over 30 years. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Anchor Baptist Church, playing golf, shooting pool, playing and coaching softball, enjoying watching all the Cleveland and Ohio teams. He was a great teacher, father figure and mentor to his children and many others. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Stephanie Mills, Ronald and Augusta Benson, and Timothy and Theresa Benson; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, Pops was preceded in death by his brother Jack Benson and a sister.

A Celebration of James' life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11a.m. Pastor Danny Grimes will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
