James O. Liggett, 90 passed away on May 19, 2013. At the Villages Regional Hospital, The Villages, FL. He was born on May 25, 1922 in Andrews, IN to the late Paul E. & Nondus (Billings) Liggett. A Pacific Theatre veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a forty two year employee of the Republic Steel Corp., Mr. Liggett lived his entire life as a Massillon resident until he retired to The Villages of Lady Lake, FL where he has resided for the past nineteen years. As a Massillon resident he was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple and coached Little League Baseball in the 1960's. His friendly competitive spirit sustained him through the retirement years at his beloved "Villages" where he received numerous state horseshoe medals and captured a bronze in The Senior Olympics. He is survived by, his two sons, Paul of Canton, David of Dalton, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister, Lois Smith of Champlain, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Liggett was preceded in death by, his wife, Virginia (Moore) Liggett, a sister, Mary Lou Nemeti and a brother, Robert Liggett. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 10:30AM- 11:30AM with a funeral service at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery, Pastor Matt Ellington, officiating.
