James M. Ewing, age 90 of Massillon, died on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Laurels of Massillon. He was born on April 13, 1921 in Hanoverton, Ohio and was the son of the late Earl and Ruby (Temple) Ewing. He retired from Southeastern Equipment. For many years, Jim and his wife were active with the Gideon's. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Operating Engineers Local #18. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James E. Ewing, his son-in-law, James Foley , his sister Virginia Aston and his brother Dale Ewing. He is survived by his wife, Virginia H. (Dolvin) Ewing, whom he married on July 15, 1936, his daughter, Alyce L. Foley, his grandchildren, Colleen (Saul) Arkwright, Eric (Laura) Ewing, Melissa (Matt) Jacob and Jason Ewing and his great grandchildren, Jared Jacob, Aidan Arkwright, Olivia Jacob, Logan Ewing and Maggie Jacob. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Julia Wertz officiating. Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 12-1:00 P.M. Memorials may be made in the name of James Ewing to either, Wesley United Methodist Church, 1600 Main Avenue West, Massillon, OH 44647 or the donor's favorite charity.
