Jim W. Metzgar, age 82 of Massillon, passed away Saturday evening at Country Lawn Nursing Home following an extended illness. Jim was born on November 1, 1922 in Clarksburg, WV to the late James and Alma (Crawford) Metzgar. He was a 1940 Graduate of Buchannon Upshur High School in Buchannon, WV. Jim retired from Norfolk and Western Rail Road in 1983 following 43 years of service as a conductor. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Jim was a member of he Sons and Daughters of Herman, Massillion V.F.W #1124, Massillon F.O.E. #190 and the Brewster Moose. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, camping and boating. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: Sons; Jack & Joseph Metzgar, Brother; Paul Metzgar and Son-in-law: Neil Brogan He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Renner) Metzgar with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage, Daughters: Karen Brogan of Massillon Alison (Roy) Fothergill of Lakeland, FL, Kim Lint of Akron, Sons: Jim Metzgar of Massillon, Ed (Joyce) Metzgar of Massillon, Sisters: Pearl Brady of French Creek, WV, Jean Galion of Bridgeport, WV, 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
