James "Jim" T. Higgins

James “Jim” T. Higgins, age 58 of Tuscarawas Twp. passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on April 27, 1963, to Frances and the late James Higgins. He was a 1981 graduate of Tuslaw High School. He married Ellen Poland on August 12, 2000 and she survives. Jim was a design technician for Vail Industries Massillon Container. One of Jim’s many passions in life was coaching softball. He was very involved with the Tuslaw Youth Softball Association, where he had coached his daughter and granddaughter. Jim was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved the Marvel Comics movies. His greatest passion was his family and he will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, coach and friend. He is survived by his wife Ellen; his children Ryan Lynn, Kelsey (Shane) Barron, and Cassidy Higgins; grandchildren Elaina Wheeler and Tanner James Barron; his mother Frances Higgins; his sisters Sandra (Jamie) Miller and Teresa (Tim) Byer, his mother and father-in-law Donald and Velma Poland; his canine companion Rooney and his feline companions Ceaser and Pepper and a host of family and friends. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 4p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends from 2p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tuslaw Youth Softball Association – 1345 Lanedale Street N.W., Massillon, OH 44647. Continuing with COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol and masks are required.
